I am currently an Art Director/Designer at The Royal Order of Experience Design, a digital agency in Chicago. My capabilities include web design, identity marks and systems, and print.
In my free time, I work with textiles–printing and sewing.
Words of Advice
Collaborate / It’s hard to fight the tendency to get greedy or overly competitive on projects. When I fall prey to this, I do my worst work. When I let others in, I’m pushed harder and improve my self-awareness. The work I’m most proud of has the stamp of many people. In general, I’ve found that women are particularly strong at this.
Speak up / People will not always ask for your thoughts, but as long as you’re respectful, you’re worth being heard.
Expect a lot from yourself and others / Know what you bring to the table and be confident in that. But be just as aware of where you need improvement and actively work to change it. A big factor in growth is work environment. It’s necessary to interact with people who have invested in you and your development. Don’t waste your time anywhere else.
Love your fellow lady designers! For better or for worse, women face unique challenges in their careers. It’s tough to navigate at times and it can feel isolating. It’s important to support one another.
