Respect the work you’re doing.

In her own words

I’m a young and ambitious illustrator, and I’m trying to have a finger in every pie when it comes to showing off my work. I do zines, prints, shows, published work, contests (I am a winner of Creative Quarterly). I’m a passionate drawer in a variety of mediums, but I love the hard reality of black ink, and the flexibility of digital colours. I work from Toronto, Ontario. I look to my surroundings, my passions, and my friends for the spark of my concepts.

Words of advice

There cannot be enough to say for hard work. Work hard, create every day—even if it’s just something small. One sketch a day will add up. That sketch might turn into a comic. That comic could catch the attention of an art director. You don’t know where your doodles will take you, so devote yourself to them. Alone time is important. Make goals, set a time line, and meet your deadline. Respect the work you’re doing. Even if you’re just starting out, remember you are a professional. Value your work (and charge accordingly!).
