Diana Sudyka
If you don’t have people asking you for work, learn to create work for yourself, and that will usually lead you to the next great project.
In her own words
I am an illustrator with a background in printmaking. I think of myself and my work as being pretty ‘analog’. I like watercolor, ink, graphite, and archaic printing processes like etching and screenprinting. I create a broad range of illustration for books, album artwork, and screenprinted gigposters for bands. I look to nature and natural history illustration for a lot of my inspiration, and thus my aesthetic is pretty organic.
Words of Advice
As a freelancer, I feel like the most valuable assets to success is having a good work ethic and being disciplined with your time. It’s not always easy when you don’t have somebody else determining your schedule, and you have to be your own boss. But it’s best to learn how to be busy even when the jobs aren’t rolling in. If you don’t have people asking you for work, learn to create work for yourself, and that will usually lead you to the next great project.
